"PLAY up Sky Blues" reverberated out
As Clive Allen made his run
That wasn't supposed to happen
We'd only just begun

Time to dig deep, to search some souls
For Sky Blues men to show some heart
This is the FA Cup at Wembley
It certainly wasn't the perfect start

A cross came over from the left
To Benno could he dare?
Great touch and perfect balance
Its now back to all square

A bit of cat & mouse from then
The City were certainly not overawed
But a corner dropped to Mabbutt's feet
And without knowing it, he'd scored

The Half Time team talk inspired our lads
Spurs thought it would be a stroll
Gynny covered every blade of grass
And we gradually took control

Down's & Pickering doubled up
To negate the threat from Waddle
While Lloyd McGrath was magnificent
Putting paid to classy Hoddle

Then the magical moment came
Has a final ever seen better
Houchen ran into the box
And scored "that" diving header

The rest of the match was just a blur
The time from then just flew
Before you knew what was going on
The final whistle blew

George and Snozz came marching out
Summoning all their motivational powers
Saw the shattered poseurs in white shirts
And declared "They've gone, it's ours"

Lloyd McGrath went for a run
Down the wing, what was he thinking?
A Perfect ball off Mabbutt's knee
And it was History in the making

Big killer climbed the 39 steps
Followed by his victorious team
To lift the cup, oh what a day
Or had it all been just a dream?

But no, it was for real of course
I remember Snozz's jig
It took me back to Highfield Rd
And Downs'y with his wig

And so they headed home in style
We all shed some joyous tears
The City came out to welcome their heroes
Is it really 25 years?
