Coventry City - Confidence and Luck Return
With Coventry City finally getting out of the bottom three for the first time since October, sky blue fans feel an enormous sense of relief. But the job is far from over. Defeats in the next two games will find us back in the bottom three.
With City finally finding some form and consistency, unbeaten in the last six. There is a real sense that both the fans and more importantly the players believe they can escape.
Having come back from the dead at Cardiff plus a couple of injury time wins have the players believing that even if they are behind they are still capable of turning it around. This is the same belief that was so lacking up until Christmas.
As much as AT bemoaned our luck earlier in the season, he can't say that he hasn't had a fair slice of it in recent games. Portsmouth 10 point deduction coupled with them having to release players being the biggest. They say that luck evens itself out over a season so it seems to have arrived at last.
So what changed?
Well the loan signings of Norwood and Nimely certainly added some much needed quality and bodies to the squad. Although Nimely hasn't scored the goals we hoped for, his overall contribution and pace have caused teams problems that other players have benefited from.
The return from injury of Clarke, Clingan and McDonald and Hussey have allowed us to rest some of the kids plus have given us options on the bench. McDonald is starting to look like someone who knows where the net is.
So at last it is starting to look like the Coventry can escape relegation but I think there are more twists and turns to come. Having been a City fan for years we all know what a roller coaster ride of emotion following City can be!
