Coventry City Future?
WINNING our last game of 2011, with a performance of team-work unseen for a lot of 2011, is a timely fillip for CCFC fans. There hasn't been too much to shout about for the past 12 months, but the way the team and manager has stuck to their task is a great credit to the team spirit within the camp.
I was really impressed with the style of football City are attempting to play, with all of the parts looking worthy of selection:
The keeper is finally playing for us, how he used to play against us.
The defence is looking well drilled and giving nothing away.
The midfield has a decent balance about it, with Conor Thomas looking every inch the player (in his holding role) that we all hoped he could be and Gary Deegan has added some much needed bite into the centre of the park.
Up front Jukebox and Macca gave Brighton all sorts of problems, with Chris Catlin likening Macca to Gareth Bale (I'll have a half of whatever he's drinking).
And finally Andy Thorn, I doubt you would get another club in the country cheering the managers name for a team Bottom of the league and the reaction at the final whistle against Brighton spoke volumes for the high regard the fans and players have for big Thorny.
The heads could have dropped by now, and the fans could have given up on the manager and his back-room staff, but not a bit of it, there is a real sense of us all being in this together......................
As for the future:
Lets just hope we can keep the players we have at the club, with us probably being only a couple of additions away from pulling out of our current predicament and pushing clear of the relegation zone...........
There is talk of people behind the scenes pushing to get new owners in place, with the promise of funds available to build for the future, stories we have all heard before, but from what I understand, it should all be in place for the early part of January.
Fingers Crossed........................
