Why the Ricoh Arena should not be sold to SISU

DOES anyone else find it strange that SISU now want now to buy half of the Ricoh Arena?

Having been in charge now for approaching 4 years, they seem desperate to buy half the ground before Christmas. But why now, why not 4 years ago?

SISU have intimated that they might pull the plug on the club at the end of the season, so why would they want a football ground?

As SISU have zero trust with the fans, it is hardly surprising that the fans are so suspicious of their motives. If this had happened 2 or 3 years ago then it would have been seen as a positive move.

As they own the club they are entitled to discuss buying half the ground at a certain value off the Alan Higgs Trust. One would imagine that the price might be below its current market value?

With the Olympics around the corner, the profile of Coventry will be raised significantly and on a world stage. Maybe a club that owns half their ground might just be attractive to a prospective overseas buyer?

It would also shed light on why they discredited the Gary Hoffmans £1 bid so publicly.

As we know SISU are in this world to make money.

So far Coventry has cost them money which has been loaded as debt against the club. Buying half the ground is an asset that makes a profit. A profit that is set to rise next year due to the Olympics.

It would be nice if SISU shared their plans with the fans, however we all know sadly that this is not the case. In light of that we have to go on what they have said and not done so far.

So unless they start opening up to the fans we have to be deeply suspicious that their motives are not in the best long term interests of the football club.

SISU being allowed to get their hands on their share of the Ricoh Arena would be a mistake.

My greater concern is that if SISU get their hands on the stadium, and then liquidate the football club after the Olympics, the Ricoh site could then be redeveloped for retail and commercial use, at much greater profit

Don't sell then as much as a tea bar!
