Coventry City fans are not feeling very happy

USUALLY I'm starting to get a bit excited when there's only days to go till a new season starts but like Sky Blue Kev and a few others I'm feeling a bit downcast to be honest.

With no money in the kitty and no new outfield players arriving plus injuries already piling up it's not looking very promising for the tough campaign ahead, and to add to my woe we are one of the bookies favourites to get relegated.

You don't need to be a football genius to work out that a small injury prone squad will struggle to compete in a league that's classed as the fifth toughest division in Europe,no wonder fans shoulders are drooping even before a ball has been kicked in the new season.

I was going to go to the Norwich friendly on Saturday and I always do go to the final friendly before the proper stuff starts but decided to have a few beers in the pub instead, and when those that did go to the match came in the pub afterwards with long faces I knew I'd made the right decision.

Sky Blue Kev also mentioned the great Jimmy Hill in his blog, well it was Jimmy who turned me into a Coventry City fan all those years ago when I was a young lad.

And I bet I'm not on my own who were fans from those days till now who wish he was around today,he wasn't everyone's cup of tea with some of the things he brought to the game but he certainly knew a player when he saw one and was a winner in my book.

He turned Coventry City into a successful club in just a few years when were a very ordinary third division outfit going nowhere fast,a true legend without a doubt.

But that was then we have to focus on the present time now and try and stay positive as best as we can but it isn't easy when there's so little going on to cheer us all up.

Leicester City are the Manchester City of the Championship as far as splashing their cash about with almost eleven new signings I think I read somewhere,I can picture the scene at the Ricoh with the Foxes fans winding us up singing we've got more money than you !

So it would be great if poor little Coventry City could beat the money bags club from down the road on Saturday now that would put a smile on us fans faces who have loved seeing us beat them since Jimmy hill turned the Bantams into the Sky Blues.
