Can Coventry City's squad of players stay fit and strong ?

WITH less than two weeks to go till the kick off to the new season begins I echo the comments of my fellow blogger West End Boy.

We have a smallish squad and with a few players being injury prone we will suffer I feel if we don't bring in some new faces,it's a long hard season in the Championship as we all know only too well and you do need a decent sized squad to get through it.

I am an admirer of Mcpake and Deegan but they pick up injuries all the time so even though they may say they want to get a full season under their belts you can't rely on them not breaking down again can you ?

Andy Thorn said a while back he had a list of possible targets he wanted to bring in if players left the club, well players have gone but other than the two keepers nothing appears to be happening does it ?

We know that the money pot is empty so unless cash arrives shortly it looks like no new signings will be made.

The thought of further players being sold fills me with dread to be honest, I hope that doesn't happen because we would be in a right mess on and off the pitch.

Like West End Boy I too like Thorn as our manager he is a shining light at the moment but then again Boothroyd was full of positivity and talked a good game, but look what happened to him.

So we just have to hope and pray the squad we have got stay away from injuries and suspensions as best as they can but I wouldn't bank on it with our dodgy track record,we always have players out for long periods.

Still this could hopefully be a season when we get some much needed luck for a change where players have lengthy periods of games instead of playing a couple then be out of action for weeks and in some case even months.

Only time will tell of course as football is a wonderful but strange game at times and things can happen that leave you flabbergasted and scratching your head in disbelief, but the Sky Blues will have a good season this campaign won't they ?

I fear too CCFC are staring relegation in the face - and it's the club's own fault. You can't generate results without some semblance of stability, and that's the one thing we don't have. The managerial merry-go-round is finally going to catch up with CCFC. I hope I'm wrong.
