Between the sticks for Coventry City

So Keiran Westwood has gone to Sunderland but the Sky Blues have wasted no time in finding not one but two new keepers.

Joe Murphy from Scunthorpe will take Westwoods place while Dunn will be the number two keeper, and I'm pleased that's been settled quickly as we don't want to start the new campaign worrying about who's going between the sticks.

Like Sky Blue Kev I wish Keiran well in his quest for Premiership football,he has served us well and as a regular international keeper he deserves his step up in league football.

But it would have been good to have kept him but alas that was not meant to be but in Murphy we have secured a goalie who knows the Championship well, I have seen him a few times and I feel he will settle in okay.

Westwood had to step up from the lower league when he came here but for Murphy it will be business as usual, and if we have a solid and fit defence in front of him I can't see us missing Westwood that much, but obviously only time will tell.

Chris Dunn comes with a glowing reference from Northampton Town and will relish challenging Murphy for the number one jersey and Andy Thorn seems really excited at capturing this pair.

The City have always had decent keepers over the years with the likes of Bill Glazier,Jim Blyth,Oggy,Kirkland, and more recently Fulop and of course Westwood.

The great Brian Clough once said that you build a side from the back starting with your goalie so that's why he went and got Peter Shilton,we aren't in a position to get someone in that class but that doesn't mean there's not decent keepers around.

So let's forget about Westwood now because he's gone to pastures new but like Andy Thorn i feel the replacements who have come in will do a good job and I look forward to seeing a few more new faces arriving soon wearing the Sky Blue.
