Coventry City Football Club has turned into a soap opera

WHAT a crazy few weeks at our club with the manager getting the sack then the chairman standing down, and talk of administration and the possibility of a ten point deduction.

This can only be Coventry City F.C. where the scriptwriters on EastEnders would be hard pressed to come up with storylines as madcap as the goings on at the Ricoh Arena.

Plus add in stories of clubs wanting to take two key strikers out on loan when goals are hard to come by and injuries to players when we need a fully fit and strong squad to take on a possible relegation battle, you have to pinch yourself and ask the question,"Is this a mad dream I'm having or is it reality ?"

No it's not a dream but real life for us Coventry city fans and it's getting hard concentrating on the football on the pitch and we've got eight tough games between now and the end of this nightmare of a campaign, when looking at the fixture list gives me the collywobbles.

We've got the Hornets of Watford coming up on Saturday followed with a trip to fellow strugglers Derby County, then it's down to Portsmouth for a night fixture which you have to say are three very tough games.

All matches are tough at this time of the season nearly every club want points for either promotion or to fight off relegation, and if we lose all three of these you have to say that could be curtains for the City.

But we all know how unpredictable the Championship is results can leave you scratching your head,it's hardly ever that straightforward is it ? So we could win all three and be fairly safe, but as our form is dire it's hard to see the sky Blues securing nine points.

With the club looking like it's ready to implode with things happening behind the scenes which us fans are never privvy too, your left too nervous to pick up the Telegraph because your anxious as to what your about to read.

Sweat appears upon my brow when I read the back page now so instead of a relaxing read about my club,I'm a wreck by the time I've finished the articles, that's what the club has done to me.

But I disagree with the comment which said relegation won't be that bad because we can come back stronger, just take a look at Sheffield Wednesday and how they're struggling now and Leeds United who also found it tough to get back to where they are currently.

No we must stay in the Championship because I honestly believe a drop into League One would be a disaster for Coventry City.

The club has to fulfil its part of the bargain. It is a nonsense to question fan loyalty or point to a half filled Ricoh Arena as the reason for poor league form. Since 2001 we have NEVER entered Easter in a decent top 8 position. We've had 10 years of dull cardboard mediocrity. Had they entered the Easter weekend 'on a run', 4 or 5 times in the last decade, such issues as the move away from Highfield Road wouldn't see the light of day. As for survival, if we get something from Millwall and Scunthorpe at home, I think we'll stay up. "Just" that is, by the odd couple of points. But we are not playing well and the cycle of low morale and dismal confidence would surely multiply in League 1, where money and fans would be rare things indeed! Go for Bobby Gould-if only to end the cycle of greyness and sheer bland under achievement!

Yes your spot on Tony it has been a miserable ten years, and it looks like many more to come if the club doesn't do something to change this demise,But do you want Bobby Gould in now,or full time next season ?I liked Bobby as a player and as a motivator, but as our next manager I'd say no.
he is Sky Blue through and through but looking at the current crop of players we've got, I honestly don't think a City legend could get through to them !
And that I feel is where a lot of the problems lie,the players don't look that bothered, they may say they do when put on the spot but deep down they don't look prepared to sweat blood for the club, and you can bet Bobby Gould would demand that.
We are about to embark on yet another possible nail biting end to a season, are they up for the fight, let's hope so !
