Coventry City suffer one of those games
THE bright attacking display Coventry City produced on Saturday against Sheffield United was a joy to watch. It was just a pity that it didn't produce the three points we deserved
The opening game against Portsmouth and that other unlucky result against Preston showed City are much more than long ball artists and this confirmed it
As the gap between us and the top six teams grows it would seem the promotion dream of earlier in the season becomes more distant but this game showed there's still much to be positive about
After a great display by Lukas Jutkiewicz and a good forward contribution by Freddy Eastwood its good to think we have Marlon King to come back upfront.
It's very harsh to attack a honest hardworking player like Clive Platt. However it's clear when he plays we are more direct than we need to be. We are a better team without him
The last few games have seen Carl Baker back to his best. Michael Doyle has looked better in more of a holding role with his colleague going forward
The defence at last features a recognised left back and Martin Crainie looks good in his proper position.
Having created so many chances and not scored it's natural to point to the strikers. However with the exception of McSheffrey blazing over late in the game you couldnt point to poor finishing
Rather inspired goalkeeping and sheer bad luck meant City failed to score for the most part
As galling as it is looking at the table and knowing we face the league leaders next, there's surely grounds for optimism if this can be maintained
That's the question of course, suffering through the Coleman regime I longed for a performance of this quality. If we are to at least equal the placing in Micky Adams' first year we need to see more of the same
I'm still recovering from the shock of next years season ticket prices. We need a good second half of the season to draw people in by the deadline
