Three Coventry City heroes

IN his recent Fan Zone comment in the Telegraph Ian Palmer highlighted three players who've been particularly eye catching this season

Richard Keogh is certainly an attacking full back.. At times he seems to verge on the reckless. As great as it is to see there's a danger of us being exposed if he loses the ball.

I agree with Ian that he's also a quality defender. Hopefully he'll continue to keep a good balance between the two.

Attacking full backs are a major part of Aidy's strategy and it contrasts with how static they were in last seasons teams

With Clive Platt fans were expecting so little I feel there's a danger of going overboard

To have a player who's good in the air and can direct headers really helps broaden the squad. I salute him for his contribution this season.

But I still feel he's a little bit one dimensional for this level and as the season progresses should be used more as an impact substitute

Lee Carsley however has made an immense contribution this season. It was clear last year that we needed a leader on the pitch. Lee has provided that and helped produce a confident approach home or away

I had some doubts when he came. I felt because of his age he wouldnt play regularly enough. I also thought the balance in midfield would have to change to accomodate him

Well he's clearly an extremely fit player as he's regularly playing three games a week.

We started with Michael Doyle supportiing him and then brought in Sammy Clingan. He seems to have combined equally well with two very different partners

The use of Gunnarson on the right at the expense of a natural winger may well also help to support Carsley. It also seems to bring the best out of the icelander

So the plusses of having Lee in the side are huge. I don't remember him being as inspirational in his first spell with the club

But this is an experienced battle hardened Lee Carsley. It could be he'll miss some games as the season develops. It may be worth at some stage trying three midfielders to give him extra support and using Richard Keogh as an attacking wing back

The squad is big enough to cater for any developments but these three sky blue heroes have helped us greatly in the early part of the season

Keep up to date
