The Championship is a crazy division

AS Jimmy Greaves so rightly once said many years ago, that football is a funny old game, and watching the Sky Blues this season Greavsie was spot on with that statement.

Our performances have been erratic to say the least, starting matches poorly or just turning up in the second half, not really dominating any games so far this campaign.

I thought Doncaster played us off the park for long periods the other night, passing it around on the ground at speed while we settled for the long ball route too often I thought.

Boothroyd says he's not a long ball merchant but the City love to boot the ball upfield hoping for something to come of it, we look at times too scared to play the passing game like Doncaster did, we looked boring and predictable.

But looking at results this season in the Championship, you just never know what the outcome of any match will be, some results have been bizarre like Leeds four and preston six, and leicester getting thumped six one at Pompey, very entertaining for the neutral but a nightmare if you follow the losing teams there.

How on earth we haven't been mullered by the same score yet is a miracle I reckon, because we give the opposition plenty of chances to do so in a game.

But the main attention at the moment is on our poor attendances again, it is very worrying to say the least, they have been declining for a while now but this season other than the leicester derby match the crowds have been very poor.

Why this is could be due to a few reasons but it does get embarrasing when the announcer says the attendance over the speakers and the away fans start laughing and jeering, you look around the Ricoh and it looks like a Cathedral with a small congregation of worshippers who have bothered to turn up !

Still we have to get used to it because until we are at the top of this crazy division and looking like promotion certainties the Ricoh will stay deserted.
