Still a fan of Coventry City at 100 years of age

IN the Coventry Telegraph today there is an article on a lady called Phyllis Pyle who has just celebrated her one hundreth birthday.

She is a Coventry City supporter and has been since the age of twelve making her probably the oldest living Sky Blue fan, and longest too I should think with a staggering eighty eight years of support.

And in 1987 she was at the F.A.Cup final to see the City win the Cup,and she got told off for standing on her seat celebrating the victory, she was 76 years old at the time.

I loved reading the article on her and am really impressed with her devotion to the club, she truly is a top fan.

She can't manage to get to the Ricoh for games, but she still listens to matches on her radio never ever missing one.

On the Marlon King debate she says we should sign him saying we are desperate for goals, and can see no reason why not to snap him up, and if Phyllis says he should come who are we to argue with her ?

Just like Phyllis my own late father took me to games when I was a kid but in the sixties, and I was hooked instantly and could never stay away from Highfield Road,in the blood so to speak,

But back then we had bigger crowds for most games, the atmosphere was a lot different too, to be honest it was a lot more exciting than today.

Probably it was the same for Phyllis too when she starting going to matches, you just had to keep going because you felt a part of it, and wanted to be.

Anyway I'd like to say congratulations to Phyllis on her Sky Blue longevity, she really is a true Coventry City supporter, and in my book a Sky Blue Legend as well.
