Can Coventry City not sign Marlon King ?

THE SKY BLUES aren't playing beautiful football at the moment but they are grinding out the points nevertheless.

As Aidy Boothroyd quite rightly says we are a work in progress, and watching from the stands you can see that the players are really putting in a shift which is pleasing to see.

There is still a problem in midfield though I feel they don't dominate that area of the pitch enough, they can certainly tackle well enough, but maybe we need some flair there as well ?

Defensively we looked pretty solid for most of the game, but as usual they fell asleep for Derby's goal, but overall they played together really well which is want we need on a regular basis.

Now all the talk is on Marlon King and is he coming or not,and if he does sign on the dotted line will the Sky Blue fans get behind him ?

A fan sitting next to me in the tesco stand on Saturday said he doesn't want him wearing the Sky Blue, while his mate was the opposite and hoped he signed for us, so as you can see the reaction is mixed.

Myself I am a football fan and a Coventry City supporter so all I ever want is for my club to win games and be successful, and to do that you need a proven goalscorer of which King is, and unless we can attract someone else instead we will just have to accept him if he does come here.

Because if we don't sign him some other club will and we could regret that come the end of the season, because alas there aren't that many goalscorers around is there, they are very thin on the ground.

Yes, what Marlon King gid in the past was unforgivable. But on the football side of things Coventry City FC's main ambition is to be back where they belong, the Premiership. Does Marlon King have thepotential to provide goals to help us on the way? Yes.

Sign him. How many fans have done very bad things and have been forgiven. Give the man a chance

I'm sorry, but it's about more than just scoring goals. This bloke represents the club, the city and us. I'm all for forgive and forget, but King hasn't shown a shred of remorse.

There's a big list of bad stuff below, but personally speaking it's the abuse and beating of women that worries me. Only cowards hit girls. Not fit to wear the shirt...

Since the age of 17 King has found himself in the dock on no less than seven previous occasions involving 13 offences. They feature dishonesty, drink driving and other motoring offences, and violence against women.

In 2002 King, served five months of an 18 months sentence for receiving a stolen £30,000 BMW, later reduced to nine on appeal

A year later, he was convicted for common assault on two women he chased through London with a belt wrapped round his fist. And in 2006 he was convicted of threatening behaviour after slapping another woman and then spitting at her when police arrived.

In October 2009, When unanimously convicted of sexually assaulting the 20-year-old and causing actual bodily harm, the judge told King:

"You approached those young women who wanted nothing to do with you. You touched them on their faces and, as the jury have just found by their verdict, touch the complainant on her backside in a way that amounted to a sexual assault.

"Although they and others told you politely and firmly to leave her alone you weren't prepared to be ignored. Your response was to boast you were a multi-millionaire and to say that the complainant was not in your league."

"Eventually and after some time you you simply lost your temper and punched her hard in the face."

You broke her nose, and that can still just be seen, and you cut her lip."

"You are 29, you are just over six feet tall and you are a professional footballer. She is a comparatively slight woman, just over five feet tall. Thereafter you tried your best to avoid any responsibility for what you had done, and you were helped in this by the night club for whom you were such a good customer."

They had, said the judge, allowed him to leave without calling the police, even though they pretended to do so.

"You have shown not a hint of shame at your disgraceful and arrogant behaviour."
