Bring on the pre season

THE picture in todays telegraph of three players reporting in to work reminds us all that the distraction of the World Cup is nearly over and it's time to get excited about the upcoming season

Since he took over Aidy Boothroyd has undertook a charm offensive with the fans that has changed a few minds, while others are reserving judgement for when the action starts

Up until recently he'd had little contact with the players. I was amused to read he "bumped" into Keiren Westwood though. I don't know if it was an accidental encounter whilst shopping but I hope it went well

Aidy needs to inspire the squad from last year to believe they can do much better.

A manager has to communicate with two audiences the fans and the players. And hopefully needs to do it well with both.

I was pleased to here he was going to run a disciplined regime because " im not running a holiday camp". Some players may resent a sterner regime than the more relaxed one that seemed to be run by Chris Coleman

But I like to hope that Coventry City players first and foremost want to be winners. I'm sure Aidy will earn thier respect. He can point to his record in this division and bring the players with him.
A happy camp is a winning camp. The signs are good with the positive feedback coming from our new signings that Aidy's very much a players manager

Pre season is always a key time for forging a team spirit that will endure in the months to come. With a new manager and a new impetus to mark a change from the failings of the last regime it's all the more important

For myself I remain optimistic. The passion and commitment from the manager is catching

I find it refreshing that after leaving Watford rather than pontificating as a television pundit,he chose to visit clubs to improve his coaching technique

Let's hope Coventry City profit from the next stage in Aidy Boothroyd's career
