The search for a new Coventry City manager
AS I blog on through the close season like most City fans my big question is who'll be the new City manager
Im pleased that Ray Ranson isn't rushing into a decision. Famously Paul Fletcher said he was going to set up interviews and then swooped to make an appointment regardless
That was Iain Dowie of course and we know how that turned out. It seems to me we've explored most options in previous searchs yet still find ourselves looking again
There's the big names who proved to be past thier best. Ron Atkinson and Peter Reid spring to mind
And what about the ex player looking for a managerial break. Garry McAllister and Terry Butcher weren't great City managers. Im pleased it seems Garry isn't in Ray Ranson's thoughts.
And I dont believe we need to offer Dion Dublin a start in managment.
We need to believe we are a big club who arent a stepping stone for a lower division manager with a moderate record
I think names like Tony Mowbray,Garry Megson and even Phil Brown who've had good records and are still hungry to do better are good candidates
Alan Curbishley who did a great job at Charlton and was perhaps sacked prematurely at West Ham seems a fine candidate. He's hungry to get back and I believe would see this as a great opportunity
Probably one of the few trends we havent tried is a foreign manager. I often think what Roland Nillson may have achieved if he had the chance
Lazlo Baloni's record is second to none. Ranson seems to favour an British candidate but I do feel he should at least speak to this interesting addition to the potential candidates
