The qualities needed to be a Coventry City fan
WITH just one more game to go, this season has really flown by it doesn't seem that long ago that we beat Ipswich Town 2-1 on the opening day of the season.
Now it's Watford at the Ricoh on Sunday with the Sky Blues having nothing to play for except a little bit of pride, but it would be great if they gave us fans something to cheer about, but even if they gave the Hornets a hammering it would still have been a poor season.
As a season ticket holder I attend all the home games so obviously I get to know other fans at the matches, and you notice when they don't turn up.
And quite a few have dropped out especially during the latter stages of the season, but as we all know it's a marathon and not a sprint, so a lot will run out of steam and give up.
They all have their reasons, but let's be brutally honest they stop coming because they want to see the team winning matches , and when they don't they stay away.
But if they reckon this Championship was a tough one, I dread to think what they make of the next one because I envisage a division packed with teams with high expectations of reaching the Premiership.
Starting with the likes of Hull and burnley who will have their parachute payments, then there's the teams already in the championship who will lose out in this seasons play offs, and of course there's the three teams coming up who will be confident of doing well.
So if Coleman stays in charge of the team, he knows he needs at least four new players to strengthen the squad just to compete next campaign. A striker, two decent full backs, and another midfielder, so not much then !
So a season that promised so much has ended with fans feeling deflated and short changed, but I've said it before and I'll do so again, to be a fully paid up member and supporter of Coventry City F.C. THE RULES OF MEMBERSHIP ARE ; You need patience, durability, thick skin, and a sense of humour, so to avoid disapointment, please make sure you have all these qualities before signing up !
