Coventry City need a quality striker

IM tying hard to keep positive, and even though the Sky Blues are slipping down the table once again, I'll do my best.

We've got three games left of our seesaw season, but to appease the fans, they need to get nine points from them, but on current form, it's hard to see that happening.

But at Bramall Lane on Saturday, the defence kept things tight, and if we had put away a couple of chances in front of goal, we could have even nicked all three points.

So that's the positive, but as we all know by now, when your a Cov City fan things aren't that straightforward, there's always a negative side to things, and that is where are the goals going to come from to win these games ?

Clinton works hard, but he just doesn't get us enough goals, Freddie Sears looks like a little boy lost, out of his depth I reckon, and Eastwood doesn't get enough time on the park, but if he did, would he do the business, because he lacks confidence most of the time .

Stead is out now, but he is a target man more than a striker, so who's going to put the ball in the onion bag ?

You can get out of this division, if you've got several different players chipping in with goals, but most clubs that are successful, have a free scoring striker in their side, but we haven't had one for many seasons.

But Coventry City have had them in the past, George Hudson, Ian Wallace, Mick Ferguson, Dion Dublin, Robbie Keane, and not forgetting Micky Quinn.

These were not only goal scorers, but they had something about them, they excited the crowds, not only did they know where the net was, they were characters too, these are the type of players sadly missing today.

The great Brian Clough said, build a team from the back, but also get a decent centre forward, one who'll get you goals, well we've got the keeper in Westwood, while he's still here that is, so all that's lacking is the striker, surely there must be one out there ?

So Ray Ranson may have to get his cheque book out, or find the cash from somewhere, because if he can attract a free scoring striker to the Ricoh, wouldn't it be worth it in the long run ?

What about Terry Bly, Neil Martin and more recently Michael Mifsud? MM unfortunately spoilt his sojourn at the Ricoh in the end but no one can deny that for a while he lit our arena with some outstanding goals.
