The Play offs - we should believe it's possible

The League table tells us it has to be possible but for most City fans our gut instinct tells us otherwise.

The dismal way we finished last season is still a bitter memory for many but for me it feels different this time round. We look stronger. More of a team. More focused. More determined.

So can we reach the play offs? I think we can.

It's still a tall order but far from impossible. Where as until recently there was no end of clubs with sufficient games in hand of us who could overtake our points total. That's no longer the case. Only Sheffield United now of the teams below us can go above us once we're on a level playing field in terms of games played.

We therefore need to start looking at those above us and most critically Cardiff City and Leicester City, both of whom we play in the coming weeks.

I fancy we'll beat the Welsh boys and then get a draw against our East Midland rivals which will go some way to assist us in edging our way ever upwards.

I'm also predicting draws in the crucial away games at Sheffield United and Middlesborough in April. That said, regardless of whether City make it I don't see either of these two getting amongst the top 6. The same applies to Blackpool, Barnsley and Doncaster the only other teams realistically harbouring play off ambitions.

I've looked at all of the remaining fixtures for the teams above us as well as the two aforementioned clubs immediately below us and I reckon that Cardiff are probably now the team that we're most likely to catch.

I reckon they'll finish with between 69 and 72 points. Looking at our remaining fixtures I reckon 70 is an achievable target for us so it's definitely all to play for.

Don't know about you but I'm looking forward to an exciting last couple of months!
