Return of the forgotten man....Ben Turner

They say 12 months is a long time in politics, well 7 months must seem like a lifetime for Ben Turner. At the start of the season, he was our 1st choice central defender along side Elliot Ward, missing only two of the first 16 games. Now he finds himself 4th in the pecking order behind McPake, Wood and Barnett.

With Wood injured, Ward out on loan and Barnett suspended for two games. It is more than likely that Ben will get an opportunity in the first team again over the next couple of weeks.

At 6' 4 we all know he has the physical presence to be a good central defender at this level. At only 21, time is also on his side. What he needs is to add consistency to his game and cut out the unforced errors that creep into his game every now and again.

Whether these are due to his age or in experience, remember he has only started 52 games for City in his career so far, I don't know. Although I suspect it is due to his inexperience at this level.

Playing along side a fit and in-form James McPake and in a team where confidence his high following a string of excellent results, can only make his return easier.

Being a product of our youth academy and from the local area, the fans want to see him do well.

So if the opportunity arises in the next few games, i hope he grabs it with both hands and give Chris Coleman the kind of selection headache manager's love...

Quite right, WEB.
Ben's been out a long time though, and I hope people will remember that when they judge his performance on Saturday.
He was excellent at the start of the season, and I'm sure he'll be an important part of the squad for many years to come.
