Why I'm not in the grip of Coventry City play-off fever

JUST lately there's great excitement among City fans and I'm very keen to share in it. Looking at Ian Palmer's six reasons doesn't quite do the trick though.

I haven't noticed a new non temperamental Clinton. And the Sky Blue Crew don't do that much for me though I'm as much of a red blooded male as the next man.

No the real reason to get excited is the golden vision of the play-offs on the horizon. Yet as Jim Brown said in the Telegraph today its a tall order for us to get there. My head agrees but my heart goes back to the tall orders we've achieved in the past

In the Premiership days we often achieved a remarkable sequence of results to avoid relegation. It took determination and self belief to achieve those great escapes and avoid that negative

Now we have to find that same determination to achieve a positive. Keiren Westwood says team spirit is frightening I hope he's right

In today's game at Peterborough fan's expectations are high. Chris Coleman rightly says the team should see that as a plus, rather than a burden.

We have an unfortunate habit of bottling it on the big occasion. Let's make sure that doesnt happen today

There's been much discussion about City's crowds in this forum. Really it's simple as Chris Coleman says, the fans will support a winning team. The amount travelling to Peterborough confirm this.

Doubtless if this winning run continues it will be reflected in the next few home attendances

I've said all season to challenge we must improve our away form. Even though it wasn't sustained for ninety minutes I was excited by our positive attitude at Newcastle.

Last season we beat promotion chasing Birmingham away from home. We have to take strength from that and our recent away form when we face Leicester and West Brom away.

But first in the words of the oldest football cliche we have to take each game as it comes.Today we need to outfight Peterborough and achieve a victory

I think I haven't caught Play-off Fever yet because I'm scared of getting carried away.Let's see what happens next in this season of highs and lows
