Football can be insane, but we still love it

Jimmy Greaves once famously said, " It's a funny old game " so not only was Greavsie a great player, he was a bit of a philosopher too.

Because those few words sum up football aptly I reckon, it really is a funny game at times, and it can drive you nuts as well, but we still keep going back for more.

Take the Sky Blues season so far, we went ten games without a win, we were looking like relegation material, then out of the blue, we went on a good run, which culminated in us looking at an unlikely play off place.

Now after a couple of mediocre performances against Plymouth, and Cardiff City, the Sky Blues have slipped down the table again, into tenth spot.

And listening to comments being made by City fans after the Cardiff game, the majority reckon that The Sky Blues will drop even further down the table in the coming weeks.

It just goes to show that football can throw up so many twists and turns, one minute it's a breeze, the next it's a tornado, one day your up, the next your down, crazy or what ?

But the Championship has to be the maddest division of the lot of them, because anybody can beat anybody, you can jump from the bottom of the table to a mid table spot, on the back of a couple of wins and a draw, and average players can look brilliant in some games.

So it's looking like Newcastle and West Brom taking the top two places, but one from at least eight other teams could end up nicking the third spot, proving even more just how madcap this division is.

So Jimmy Greaves was spot on with his analogy on this sport we love, but could that be why we keep going back for more, it's craziness, and it's unpredictability ?
