What a difference a game makes
AFTER the hopeless negativity of the Blackpool game I went out for last night's match fearing the worst.
But I was delighted to see a positive committed performance from the team which eventually got the reward we deserved
It was a great justification of the benefits of the 4-4-2 system which perhaps isnt quite so neanderthal after all. Maybe the departure of Leon Best might usher in a more considered style.
Certainly the dream striking partnership of Morrison and Eastwood had it's best outing so far
The midfield of Gunnarson, and Clingan combined effectively, and most important for the formation the wide players contributed throughout
The defensive partnership of Wood and McPake also looked solid. Indeed as with most good performances everybody did well. But as welcome as the victory was there's a lot of work to do to secure a good finish to the season.
Again after a close competitive first half the opposition overwhelmed us from the beginning of the second. This has been a constant feature be it against high flying Forest or rock bottom Peterborough. Why should this be so Mr Coleman?
Thankfully we came again helped by contributions by Deegan and the impressive Carl Baker. Known for his hyperbole Chris Coleman has described him as "sensational" in training.
In this case when I've seen him play that word does come to mind. Perhaps we should see even more of him
This may be followed by a good result against QPR. But what sort of City will come out for the next away game ?. That remains to be seen.
Finally I'd like to ask Chris Coleman to start getting some perspective. Fans whether they are right or wrong are entitled to criticise. To describe that as "sickening" seems over the top to me
And very finally Id say CONGRATULATIONS Amy Fearn for one of the better debuts by any Referee at a City game I can recall

"benefits of the 4-4-2 system which perhaps isnt quite so neanderthal after all"
Nobody ever said it was. Coleman said that it was outdated to think that lone striker automatically equals negative football, which is correct.
