The Fear Factor..

At 2-15 pm Saturday, Chris Coleman set himself up for a backlash from the fans by naming the same starting 11 as used against Swansea.

With only one striker on the pitch and a formation designed to negate the opposition rather than attack them, he must have expected a backlash if City didn't perform...which they didn't

His comments that Blackpool had totally out played us earlier in the season was given as the reason at the end of the game why we started with only one striker and five midfield players.

This is a reason that I and many other fans would find hard to accept.

Last season we played both Wolves and Birmingham at the Ricoh, both teams arguably better than Blackpool as they are both Premiership teams. On those two occasions we played 4-4-2 attacked them and won.

I think that a number of fellow blogger's and fans have come to the conclusion that in recent games, Coleman's first priority now is not to loose rather than to try and win it.

If that is indeed the case, then this mentality will transfer itself to the players and regardless of formation, will have a negative effect on the team. Players will sit back and let the opposition come onto us which is understandable in some circumstances away from home. But at home, the fans won't accept it.

We need to be more positive, especially at home or we are in danger of having another poor finish to the season.
