In Praise of Ian Palmer
MANY congratulations from me to Ian Palmer for his last two pieces. Ive always enjoyed Stuart Hall's flowery language on his Radio 5 reports and Ian does seem to write in that style sometimes
Im not sure I share his vision of Leon and Keiren swinging from fraying ropes above the pit of despair that is the transfer market. It's certainly a colourful description.
I havent seen Micky Gynn's comments but It is clear that these two are important players. In my opinion Westwood was a key reason why we stayed up last year. Best is less important. Certainly after a good start Morrison hasn't pulled up any trees this season
That's why he was dropped. Oh sorry protected by Chris Coleman. Dimi certainly didnt impress when he had a run of games earlier on in the season
I agree with Ian they are replacable but I'd say Westwood is much harder to replace. It could be the club will have no choice. If so I wouldnt say relegation's inevitable. Far from it but was that really what Micky said.
As for his heart felt piece on Jack Cork. I'm speechless. Cork is a fine player but when paired with Gunnarson in midfield we looked very lightweight. With the addition of Deegan and possibly Baker it seems right to release him.
Being an ugly devil myself I can't comment on his good looks. Ian seems to appreciate them and good luck to him for that. Im sure he doesnt mean to patronise female football fans though
He im sure realises the average female fan appreciate good football from even the ugliest of players
