How do I catch cup fever?
BACK in the old premiership days this was the most exciting Saturday of the season for me.In all honesty I had to admit we were unlikely to take the title away from Manchester United or Arsenal.
But we might just take the FA Cup and this was the start of my yearly dream of a trip to Wembley. Of course in 1987 the dream gloriously came true.
Since relegation I've told myself all that matters is returning to the Premiership and being able to play the big boys every year.
Maybe as that looks a very long shot for the umpteenth year I might as well get excited about the cup again. We made the quarters last year didn't me.
Drawing two non league clubs, and playing an under strength Blackburn helped along the way. Cup fever was rampant on the big day against Chelsea. Sadly it was men against boys and so much for the cup run.
Very shortly we kick off against a Portsmouth club in crisis. We know thier players havent been paid, and who can say what that will do for thier commitment.
What I will say is for the sake of the numbers of City fans who've doubtless travelled South on this bitterly cold day,I would hope the City players do them proud
One of my few away trips these days was to Blackburn two years ago. City won 4-1 and it was a pretty special trip home.
Here's to something similar for today's travelling support. Go on City give us a dose of cup fever.
