Frozen but happy

BATTLING through the snow to get to the Ricoh on a cold afternoon I wondered how pleased I should be that our game was one of the few that beat the weather

I was comforted by our recent record of thumping home wins against Barnsley. As it turned out this was another big win but far from the stroll of recent years.

in some ways Barnsley can count themselves unlucky to get nothing from the game but City are building a very pleasing habit of getting a favourable result without playing outstanding football.

But they are showing a great deal of fighting spirit, which was not evident earlier in the season. Confidence is still fragile and as a result the opposition are allowed far too much of the play

Im impressed with the dealings in the window so far. We have made Wood's transfer permanent which seems good business. McPake's form will make his place less than certain in the future.

Hussey will doubtless have a chance at some stage. At the moment Coleman prefers playing Cranie at left back which seems strange

But today the introduction of Baker and Deegan plus the good form of the returning Clingan gave the midfield a new dimension. Now Mcindoe has competition for his place.

I dont know how bad Gunnarson's injury is but Deegan looks capable of playing on Tuesday if needed. Upfront Eastwood scored another and Morrison was again a goalscoring substitute.

Best hasnt scored for a while and maybe the Eastwood,Morrison combination could be tried again. My instinct is we need another player in this position though

But it's clear to see we are picking up results and showing more spirit out there on the pitch. The key will be carrying this forward especially away from home, however the big cup match goes
