City play poor but still win

BARNSLEY played us off the park for a lot of the game on Saturday, in fact at one stage, we looked like we were going to get well beaten, but as Jimmy Greaves once famously said, " It's a funny old game. "

It's also been said, that good sides often win games when they have played badly, so could that mean the Sky Blues are finally turning into a winning side ?

We took our goals really well, clinical for a change, especially Clingan's cracker, a candidate for goal of the season no doubt, it was that good.

But even though the final score read : 3-1, it flattered us, another day the result could have been reversed, Barnsley played well, but luckily for us, their defence was shaky, but we took advantage of that, so for once we took the chances on offer.

So now it's the Portsmouth replay, and a great incentive to win through, with the winners at home to Sunderland in the next round, and if it's us, I guarantee a big crowd at the Ricoh, as a lot of stay away "fans" will dip into their pockets to see the Sky Blues entertain the Wearsiders.

But the league is the bread and butter, and if we do lose the cup match, heads don't have to go down, we still have lot's to play for, because we all know by now, in the Championship, two or three wins on the bounce, and you will move up several places.

Finally, and I have to be honest, I'm really not that bothered if Best left the club, as he's looking slow and lethargic, as if his mind is elsewhere, so let's get a new face in there, I reckon it could make a huge difference, and liven things up a bit, and put pressure on Freddie, and Morrison too, which all strikers need.
