Badge Of Honour

PLAYER loyalty to any football club is generally too much to ask these days with most clubs lucky if they have more than one player on the books who has racked up hundreds of games (thank you Marcus Hall)
Fans should expect , however, not just pride and passion but respect for our clubs and for players and Managers there can be no better accolade than to hear their name sang in praise by thousands of fans.
Coventry City is no exception..
I guess not many of our current crop know that the elephant on our crest is a symbol of strength and therefore there is no better place to build a fortress than on the back of such an animal.
The elephant is flanked by two animals symbolising he history of the city:
The Eagle of Leofric a reminder of Coventry's Medieval past and the phoenix to symbolise the city that rose again after devastation in more recent times.
It is the only football league badge, I believe, to also bear the cross of Saint George.
Chris Coleman - who I am sure will read this post could do a lot worse than remind his squad of these old fashioned virtues in anticipation of tomorrow's expectations.
You see despite the transient nature of the modern game the City faithful do give a damn and our badge alone tells us everything our season now needs to be about:
PRIDE- PASSION -RESPECT
So please make it a badge of honour.
We all know the true test of whether we will stand or fall this season may be known by 5 PM tomorrow.
Three points - essential
Pressure - Coleman's problem
For everything else - I wish he had Ranson's Mastercard.
I won't pick the team but in light of the above I believe Eastwood should be up front with Morrison. I am not his biggest fan but at last Freddy has come away from recent games with some respect intact.
Winning means scoring so Gunnar and Cork will need to be the men that turned up on Wednesday and not the boys who got rolled over against Scunny.
The defence is just a lottery so no comment.
A run of wins HAS to start tomorrow - we still need ten points in December and with respect to Posh - I do not want to see The Sky Blues playing them in League One next season or any season.
