A point well taken

THERE'S no doubt that currently City's squad isn't strong enough to compete at the top end of this league. We must hope a degree of activity in the next window will help remedy that

But I've always contended that the current squad is capable of doing a lot better than they have so far this season

Too many performances have shown a lack of self belief and basic fighting spirit. However the second half against Palace and most of the performance against QPR show more hopeful signs

City have a complex about playing away from home. To compete in this league they must create chances in the opposition box, rather than be totally overrun as they were at Derby.

As in that game City took the lead from thier main goal threat and eventually ended up a goal down. But in the midst of this they did create some chances themselves. Three good efforts in the first half followed by more in the second

And this time rather than fold and get beaten by more goals the team showed the character to fight back for what was a deserved point on the run of play

There is much further ground to improve. Chris Coleman tried to suggest QPR were one of the outstanding sides in the league. The table doesnt entirely bear that out. We still have contenders like West Brom and Newcastle to play away from home, and we must avoid giving them too much respect

But generally the news is good from this game. Coleman clearly hopes Wood can be a dominant figure in defence and spread assurance in the back four. He has the potential to be the best leader of a back four since Mo Konjic

We are very light in midfield without Clingan though Mcindoe has shown a lot in that area in the last two games

Best is currently our total attacking threat. I don't believe Morrison has become a bad player since his early season scoring run. But I still think to stir him out of his current run of form he should be replaced by Eastwood for the time bieng

But whatever the talk of personel there does seem to be more self belief in our play. I do believe we should have the ambition to go to Scunthorpe looking for a win.

We shouldnt be content with a point under some belief that its a difficult place to get a result. We need points to pull away from the relegation zone
