The Old Sky Blue Song

PROUD POSH OR COBBLERS, OYSTERS OR ANYONE...

With these words in the original Sky Blue Song, John Camkin and Jimmy Hill summed up Coventry City's biggest rival of the 1960's. With the first division days that followed City's rivals became the big names in English Football

In a triumph of hope over experience fans still sing of Tottenham, Chelsea, and United. Why change when we'll be back in the big time soon ?

Well it hasnt quite worked out that way. For a number of seasons we've been playing PROUD Preston, and this year we'll play the POSH of Peterborough.

In the division below are the OYSTERS of Colchester and in what's now known as League Two the COBBLERS of Northampton

So the old words seem more relevant these days. Jimmy Hill is a Coventry City legend who took this club from obscurity to the top of English Football. Ray Ranson thanked him by taking his club shares away

A year and a half ago we were the width of a post from league one. Now we're three points away from the relegation zone again. This should give all of us food for thought.

Like all fans im hoping as players recover from injury and the squad gets stronger we can pull away from the relegation zone

A club that's losing millions weekly already with the current fixture list, will not attact the sort of crowds to break even from the teams likely to visit in League One.

The stakes are high and the players need to respond to protect Jimmy Hill's legacy. We dont want to join the other big names who've recently dropped into League One
Let's start the fightback against Crystal Palace on Saturday
