The Best Ultimatum...
With Coventry City in the process of offering Leon Best an improved contract. It's time for City to give him a deadline along with the offer, sign by Christmas or they will look to move him on in the January transfer window.
If Leon wishes not to sign that is his prerogative but he should have the decency to accept a move away in the transfer window, in the same way Jay Tabb did, and earn City a transfer fee in the process.
In the two and a half seasons he has been here, Best has had one good season in total. Starting with the second half of last season and the season to date, Best has found his confidence and shooting boots.
If you look at the statistics, 17 goals in 80 games is not a great return. 8 in 15 starts this season is why other clubs are sniffing around.
If City decided not to cash in in January and let his contract run out, we might not see the same player in the second half of the season as we have seen so far in the first. With one eye on a move at the end of the season and no World Cup, Best may struggle to keep motivated.
So Leon sign up or leave in the January window with our best wishes the same as Jay Tabb...
