Living with Dissapointment

SITTING in a half empty stadium on Saturday watching us being outplayed by a team in the bottom three it was hard not to feel thoroughly depressed by the state of Coventry City's fortunes

Chris Coleman's reaction was a familiar one. The team is too young,it defends too badly, and heads go down to easily. The Manager as ever is dissapointed by the teams lack of self belief once things go against them

Speaking as a fan I had a fairly dissapointing Saturday afternoon too. Instead of hearing this following far too many games I want to see these problems being solved

Whilst we had a defence with a low average age Ben Turner has played a fair amount of first team football now. Martin Crainie has Premiership experience.

Clarke and Grandison are less experienced but as we are not fielding a reserve team they have nothing too bridge the gap between youth and first team football. But presumably whatever grade of football you play the aim has to be complete concentration throughout the ninety minutes.Players of great experience or little are failing in that respect

In my opinion a settled combination at the centre of defence has to be decided on and stuck with. A lot of fans cant understand why Crainie isnt a first choice in the centre of defence. Fans also appear to have more regard for Ward than the manager does.

As we have bitter experience of the lack of self belief in the team once they go behind I suppose it was ominous that they conceded in the first minute. Again too often City players wanted that extra pass for reassurance.

Once Best came on there appeared to be more of a partnership upfront. Morrison missed a good chance and Cork hit the post. Eastwood rediscovered his shoot on sight mentality and it was great to see

But this was a ten minute spell snuffed out by conceding the third goal. What the fans want to see is more FIGHTING SPIRIT.

As the points gap between us and the top six increases,we will try to kid ourselves that a good run will bring us closer.Maybe we shouldnt decieve ourselves and just set out to avoid us exchanging places with Reading and see where we go from there
