An accident waiting to happen
FOLLOWING on from our latest pitiful defeat against Reading I heard Chris Coleman bleating on once again about what a young team we had out as if somehow that gets him off the hook for our pathetic lack of progress.
He's right the youngsters introduced aren't to blame, they're clearly not ready yet and sadly both Coleman and Ray Ranson must shoulder the blame for our current predicament.
It was always an accident waiting to happen. As I wrote in the latest edition of "Twist and Shout" Coleman made it clear early on upon his arrival in Coventry that he wanted a small squad of players made up of younger players with the potential to take us on to better things.
What a disastrous policy this is turning out to be. Whether it is in fact Coleman's own judgement or he's just doing as he's told by Ray Ranson and his board it seems ridiculous to assume that we'd go through a season without injuries because that is what this policy is based upon.
We're suffering at the moment but then again so are most teams in this division. It just looks worse for us because we haven't got suitable back up. As I've said many times before our first choice eleven is not bad but the players we have in reserve are either not good enough or nowhere near ready for the big stage.
It makes me sick that Leicester City, a League One team last season are riding high ten points clear of the sorry Sky Blues and that Blackpool, a team watched by 8000 every week are top six material and Coventry City, a once proud Premiership club look more likely to be involved in a relegation battle than a fight for the play off places.
With the departure of Leon Best looking inevitable, if not in January, then come the summer, it's now critical that Ray Ranson supports his manager financially as currently we're a club going nowhere fast.
As I've said before. There might be a plan but it just ain't working. Ranson, Coleman....sort it out!
