Sky Blue Super Kevs

KEVIN is a name thats not been that associated with Coventry City down the years, but there are one or two others beside myself I thought I'd comment on

KEVIN KEEGAN -Ive lost count of the amount of times it's been mentioned that we rejected him before he was taken on by Scunthorpe in the 1970's. I like to think our record on taking on trialists down the years and making them into great players is pretty good none the less.

KEVIN DRINKELL-He was brought to the club on a big transfer fee for the time. A great scorer at Grimsby,Norwich, and Rangers in his time he was bound to score for us wasnt he ?

Well not really.Scoring on his debut against Manchester Utd he scored relatively few afterwards. He was one of many previously prolific scorers who didnt do it for the Sky Blues.
I suppose Freddy eastwood is the latest example

KEVIN GALLACHER- One of the most underrated City players. Twice top scorer though he played as much on the wing for City as upfront. He scored heavily in one of City's most memorable matches. The 5-4 League Cup win over Nottingham Forest

A Scottish international when he was at the club the media too often just recall his time at Blackburn Rovers

The two most recent Kevins are among the most controversial City players

KEVIN KYLE-An international player with some experience of the Premier League was in the end destroyed by the "boo boys". In my opinion some fans are too ready to attack a player for what he's poor at rather than appreciating his strengths.

If you wanted silky skills Kyle wasnt your man.But he was one of the most effective headers of the ball we've had recently. He did bring others players into the play and always tried hard
I wonder how effective he could have been if fans didnt ruin his confidence

KEVIN THORNTON- One of the most naturally talented players Ive seen at the club. He always played with confidence. He was without fear and a joy to watch. He also had a hell of a lot of skill. This type of player can be ruined if he has to conform too much to the team pattern

But in the end he wasnt ruined by over coaching or others caution. He was ruined by himself. While stories about his lack of dedication abounded I for one wanted to indulge him
I don't always go along with the argument that footballers must behave in a certain way because they are role models

But as a Coventry City fan I demand better from the players than Kevin showed at the end.The club made the right decision in ending his time as a City player
