Replacing The Iceman
SATURDAY'S TRIP to Hillsborough appears to be severely disappointing for more than one reason. As well as the 2-0 loss, we now have to face the news that the much-loved Aron Gunnarsson looks set to face a lengthy spell on the sidelines with what appears to be a fractured fibula (a broken leg to you and me).
The injury came about following what can only be described as a rash challenge from Leon Clarke in the 54th minute. Gunnarsson, in obvious agony, required gas and air to overcome the pain.
Now it's emerged that the Icelander was mocked for supposedly "making a meal" of the challenge by Owl's winger Michael Gray. The general reaction to these claims was summed up well by Leon Best, calling Gray's reaction "pathetic" and "unprofessional".
Looking forward, the Sky Blues face a serious problem in the centre of the park. With Gunnarsson and Clingan both facing extended absences, we now have only Isaac Osbourne and Jack Cork as recognised central midfielders.

Chris Coleman, who appears to have already put in some hard work to secure Chris Hussey's signature and table an offer for Gary Madine, may now have to redouble his efforts in order to draft in some cover for the Iceman.
Coleman is no mug, and will no doubt have already begun an intensive search for an on-loan midfielder.
In the meantime, Ozzy and Cork, both of whom have performed well so far this term, look set to keep their places in the first team until signings are made.
This is by no-means a bad thing; however the fact remains that our first and second choice central midfielders will not be playing together until well into the New Year.
