To boo or not to boo
THE SCENES OF EXCITEMENT following the late late equaliser against Middlesborough were great to see.
I think few of us at half time were expecting to leave the ground with such wide smiles.
That's football for you. Always expect the unexpected and all that.
Seemingly though one thing you can now expect at pretty much any game when the team is losing or even drawing on some occasions is for the players to be booed off at half time.
It happened again on Saturday as it had against Swansea City back in August.
I had intended to make the point I'm making now following that game. Well actually after the game that followed that one.
Problem is that game was away at Blackpool and therefore the waters are muddied.
So what's my point? Well it's this. I think there is a time for booing. Half time and Full Time is that place, definitely not during play and definitely not all the time as a matter of course if we're losing or not playing as well as we can.
I say Boo when we're bad, when we're really bad. When we look like we're going through the motions, when we look like we're still in the changing room. Basically when the team really deserve it.
That wasn't on Saturday against Boro, the defence had a mare in the first half but we still had chances to score, it wasn't against Swansea either.
Blackpool was different though, it was one of those days when the whole team and manager stunk to high heaven and deserved far worse than the booing they received both at half time and full time.
If we play as badly again this season I'm sure they'll get the same treatment and you know what I'll probably join the booers but it'll be a last resort
And only if they really deserve it.
