Positive mental attitudes
THE depressing thing about the Preston result was how predictable it was.
As a City fan I'm far to used to the team producing a below-par performance following a run of better ones. Especially if it's an away match.
We have to understand why this is and change the mentality that seems to produce it. Micky Adams spoke of creating a winning mentality at the club. We all know how his efforts worked out, but I believe that winning mentality is as important as ever.
We will never escape this division untill we go into most games really believing we can win. Still, as i wrote in Away day blues we seem to be short of the mental attitude required.
In his comments after Preston, Chris Coleman seems to be addressing this.
Attendences are poor this season, as many fans seem to be despairing of the club making progress.
I hope he can get the players to believe in themselves a little more. Iain Dowie tried sports psychology when he was at the club. Again this was not a huge success,but Im left with the impression that these players can do better.
It's said that when Bob Woolmer took over at Warwickshire Cricket Club he tested his squad pre season
He asked all of them to write privately what they thought the club could achieve in the coming season. When a large number of that wrote 'win the championship ' he knew he was in with a chance.
What would City players write in a similar exercise?

Rubbish. City actually played well - it was simply a mad spell, lack of concetration.
The attitude of the players can't be faulted but just maybe they need to be switched for the full 90 minutes and not70 odd. Theres far to much negative stuff about the club at the moment.

I don't how you can call the above comments rubbish.The Sky Blues lack confidence , and that's obvious, confident teams do have off days, but not many,we are all over the place.
They need to be tougher in their heads, as well as with their feet,years ago talk of psychology and football would be laughed at, but not anymore,the two go together.If you think you can win, and do well,you will.Fact.
