Fickle or frustrated?

CHRIS COLEMAN appears, in a couple of his recent interviews, to be implying that some of the fan base are fickle.

Some, I am sure, probably are so I am not about to defend all, but I also do feel that there is another core part of the fan base that isn't fickle, just frustrated.

I, with my fellow circa 14,000 other fans last night watched a competitive game of football, some parts showed quality, some frailty and some, albeit towards the end, a little lack of confidence. What last night didn't show, which other games of late have, is lack of effort.

As a long standing fan, like many others, who through the years have never seen Coventry perform consistently at a very high level, "a la Chelsea, Man Utd", but we always used to come away feeling that the team had done their best whilst wearing the Sky Blues colours, but that is simply not so of late.

Inconsistency has always been our Achilles heel, but inconsistency is usually borne from lack of effort and that is the kind that no fan will tolerate, nor should.

Most probably, asides from being a night match, the numbers were low last night since you COULD be sure of the team that would be selected, but you COULD NOT be sure whether it would be the first half or the second half performance against Bristol City that would be on display!

WHY? If Coleman wishes to criticise us fans, then do so when he has ironed out this turn off / turn on mentality from his players, we accept their quality misgivings as part and parcel of the recent financial constraints, but we will never accept low effort or sub standard endeavour and of late we have had the usual rollercoaster performances, synonymous with our beloved team.

Get them to work out of their skins every game and win / lose or draw I am certain that less and less fans could be labelled fickle and I for one would applaud the team equally no matter what the result and I would like to bet that I wouldn't be alone in that mindset Mr Coleman ............. and I am not a betting man!

Hear hear to all of the above. And, may I add that we the fans were here long before Mr Coleman arrived and will be here long after he has gone, so I think we, not him are better placed to pass judgement on our team and we are entitled to feel frustrated about the inconsistent performances that I personally have experienced for over 20 years. Indeed the only consistent factor during those years has been the inconsistency. I long for a manager that can get the team working their socks off week in week out for the sky blue shirt consistently, win, lose or draw. Is this too much to ask?

I also agree with the above, Cov City fans are no more fickle than any other in this league or anywhere else.
All we ever ask for, is passion, and commitment, in other words, when a player wears the Sky Blue,if he gives it his all, the fans will back him, if not then he can expect to get some stick.
