Expect the worst, hope for the (Leon) Best
I WOULD be lying if I said I was expecting to take all three points from Tuesday's match.
With Sheffield United coming into the fixture undefeated, and the Sky Blues off the back of a run of 2 losses and a draw, it's fair to say that we were far from favourites.
That said, if the team put in a performance similar to that which saw us dominate Bristol City in the first half on Saturday, we were sure to be in with a shout.
It wasn't exactly a perfect demonstration of the beautiful game, but what we did see was two teams looking for three points, and when this is the case, a good game often ensues.
The inability of our defenders to link with our midfield aside, you'll be hard pushed to pick fault with the performance. Effort? Check. Solidity in defence? Check. Industry in midfield? Check. Liveliness up front? Check.
For me, the two star performers plied their trade at opposite ends of the pitch. We've grown to expect the very best from Westwood in goal, but it is not until you compare him with other 'keepers in this league that you truly realise his worth to the team.
On at least three occasions last night he made saves where others wouldn't dream of doing so. Add these instances up over the course of a season and he is bound to have saved us at least 10 points. A great return for a single player.
The real revelation last night was undeniably Leon Best. Often finding himself lacking support upfront, he did well to win numerous battles in the air, hold the ball up and go on to bring others into the game as they began to flood forward.

Few would envy Best for having to compete against Chris Morgan on countless occasions, but unlike most strikers at this level he came out on top over the 90 minutes.
After taking three well-deserved points we now sit pretty in ninth place. Not a bad return after seven games. As ever, consistency is key. We've shown that we can turn-over the top teams on our day, but doing it on a regular basis is where the problem so often lies.
