Best foot forward City

LEON BEST produced a powerful holding display up front for Sky Blues as they took the game to Sheffield in Tuesday's tussle at the Ricoh.

Strong from the outset and sustained throughout the game City were good value for their 3-2 victory.

With City playing 4-5-1 come 4-3-3 Best proved a handful for Morgan the Sheffield Captain, whilst in reverse, our own steward, hindered the progress of Henderson as Stephen Wright switched to centre back & Cranie moved to full back.

Ozzy - as hoped, capitalised on another start and held the midfield play up well - freeing up Clingan into the play making role.

It's too early to call but that relationship could be good work in progress.

Mcindoe & Cork, especially, were busy all night and intelligent support play from Hall kept the supply lines flowing and with the service Best duly obliged.

Another fine goal from Leon was again matched by a screamer from the opposition but City capitalised on Sheffield blunder and Mcindoe found Morrison with the resulting cross five minutes into the second half.

Clinton was sporting a new white vest which he simply had to show to the crowd and was subsequently booked for an indecent exposure. If that wasn't excitement enough then more was to come as City scored from the head of Cranie from a corner.

I repeat - City scored a goal with a header from a corner ball.

Not exactly a Sky Blues speciality but thank you, Martin Cranie.

City's third was met with another goal from the Blades and so being Coventry, we edged forward in our seats and watched as we battled through a nervy last fifteen topped by another six of unfathomable time added on.

City found the net more than they did, learned how to spell TEAM and The Ricoh found a voice, this Tuesday.

Our wafer thin squad will doubtless leave us lacking on occasion this season but it is results like this that make us fans kiss the elephant!

While we sing together
