Who's the man for City?
As another transfer window nears closure it could be a busy time at the Ricoh Arena. Chris Coleman has already expressed his desire to bring in at least one more face before the deadline at 5:00pm on Tuesday.
Coleman will also be anxious to keep his top players with Everton heavily rumoured to make a late move for Keiren Westwood. A bid of ã10m is what it would take to tempt City to part with the Republic of Ireland international, according to his manager.
Leon McKenzie looks to be on his way out after reportedly agreeing a contract with Charlton. But let's take a closer look at some of the names that, according to reports and rumours, could be heading to the Ricoh before the deadline.
David Healy (Sunderland)
Sunderland's official website has reported City's interest in the Northern Ireland striker. More fruitful in goals terms at international level than at club level, but would add good competition for City's strikers. Wage demands could scupper a deal.
Age: 30
Height: 5'8"
Position: Striker
08/09 Record: 9 apps. 1 goal
Approx. Value: ã600,000
Chance of Signing: 40%

Jermaine Beckford (Leeds)
Wishful thinking perhaps, but the rumours still persist. A switch to Premiership strugglers Bolton looks more likely for the prolific striker. Is he the panacea? Didn't Freddie Eastwood have a similar scoring record at League One level? Eastwood has been mentioned as a makeweight in a possible swap deal, as has Elliott Ward and Michael Doyle (who is currently on loan at Leeds).
Age: 25
Height: 6'2"
Position: Striker
08/09 Record: 42 apps. 34 goals
Approx. Value: ã2.5m
Chance of Signing: 20%
Gary McSheffrey (Birmingham)
It's the rumour that just won't go away. The Cov kid still holds a place in many fans' hearts after he spent 8 years of his career with the Sky Blues. Persistent injuries have blighted his career of recent.
Age: 27
Height: 5'8"
Position: Forward (left / centre)
08/09 Record: 4 apps. 0 goals (on loan at Nottingham Forest)
Approx. Value: ã500,000
Chance of Signing: 15%
Joe Cole (Chelsea)
As far-fetched as it seems, there have been reports that Chelsea are willing to let Joe Cole join the Sky Blues for a one month loan to regain his match fitness. City seem on good terms with The Blues following the arrivals of Jack Cork and Patrick van Aanholt on loan. It would certainly go down as one of the shock signings of this or any transfer window!
Age: 27
Height: 5'9"
Position: Attacking midfielder
08/09 Record: 19 apps. 3 goals
Approx. Value: ã15m
Chance of Signing: 5%
Joe Murphy (Scunthorpe)
Believed to be lined up as a possible replacement should the worst happen and City loose Keiren Westwood. He's below Westwood in the Republic of Ireland pecking order, but would nevertheless make an adequate replacement.
Age: 27
Height: 6'2"
Position: Goalkeeper
08/09 Record: 53 apps. 0 goals 14 clean sheets
Approx. Value: ã1.5m
Chance of Signing: 50%
Lee Carsley (Birmingham)
Chris Coleman has been spotted at a couple of Birmingham City reserve games this season. Rumour has it that former City midfielder Lee Carsley could be the man he's watching. Past his prime, or a player that could add some bite and nous to the City midfield?
Age: 35
Height: 5'11"
Position: Defensive midfielder
08/09 Record: 44 apps. 2 goals
Approx. Value: ã300,000
Chance of Signing: 40%
Lewis McGugan (Nottingham Forest)
The central midfielder looked a class act when Forest came to the Ricoh last year. He was voted #16 in The Independent's 20 best players outside the Premier League. Certainly has the passing skills to unlock a defence, but he's a player who'll no doubt have a hefty price tag attached.
Age: 20
Height: 6'2"
Position: Midfielder
08/09 Record: 36 apps. 5 goals
Approx. Value: ã2m
Chance of Signing: 20%
So, who's worth a punt then?
Who's the man to put the va va voom back into the City side?
And who have I missed?
