Heroes to zeros

THE LIFE of the footballer is a tough one, we are told.

But wait, hold the phone, spare a thought for the humble fan that watches the heroes of the park playing with pride sporting the colours of our team.

We follow the boys come hell or high water. We don't mind spending our 'hard earned' when things are good.

Why? Because when it's good it's really good.

Our boys fighting for the cause earning points in a table that isn't just a competition between teams, no, its more than that. You feel happy inside glowing brighter than the kid in the porridge ad.

We were singing. "We are top of the league... we are..."

Seven days past and the lot of the fan is one of depression and desperation. We draw at Doncaster (good pies up there by the way). And then there's Swansea to lament. The talk and debate follows, sack the manager, Best is not the er... best.

Driving home from Barnsley we were full of hope (pies were not bad), driving home from Doncaster reasoning it was just a glitch, and then one whole week later walking out of the Ricoh I was proper miserable.

Our esteemed team, heroes to zeros in just 7 days, now if only we could figure out why. It might be tough being a player (allegedly) but its harder being a fan I'd say. Someone tell me where it went wrong? Someone cheer me up!
