Praise for former Coventry City keeper Arran Lee-Barratt

Hartlepool United manager Danny Wilson has shown his support for former Coventry City goalkeeper Arran Lee-Barratt following Saturday's 2-1 win at Peterborough United.

Lee-Barratt, 24, has not fully settled since moving from Coventry City in May 2007 but Wilson feels the stopper is beginning to show his best form. "He's a terrific prospect and the criticism he's had has been quite unfair," he told BBC Tees. "We've got great confidence in him and he looked very assured today." Saturday's win came off the back of Tuesday's impressive 3-1 Carling Cup win against West Bromwich Albion.

Having endured a gruelling extra-time period and the prospect of a newly-promoted Premier League side hungry for a result, Wilson admitted maintaining Tuesday's level of performance was a difficult task.

"We've had our bit of glory, we needed to dig in and we've done that," he said. "We wanted three points, we got them and the confidence they will gain from having to dig in is brilliant."
