It's a first. International break actually helps Coventry City...

THESE are words not written too often.

The international break has helped a football club, no end. Coventry City, to be exact.

Every few months, the inevitable club v country question is always raised.

Thankfully, not all players think like Jamie Carragher (I can barely bring myself to type those evil letters) and actually want to play for their countries - much to the frustrations of the likes of Rafa Benitez and Sir Alex Ferguson.

But this time, the break has proved a blessing in disguise for the Sky Blues and their walking wounded in particular.

Chris Coleman should be on the phone, thanking Sepp Blatter for the handy break in fixtures which has provided some vital time for R&R in the Sky Blues' ranks.

It gave Coleman the chance to run the rule over Ulises De La Cruz as he attempts to solve the club's never-ending right-back problems.

Freddy Eastwood's groin has had a two week rest - no attempt at toilet humour there - giving him a chance to play against Preston on Saturday.

Leon Best has recovered from his knee injury and Isaac Osbourne has now returned to the training with the first team squad. Happy days.

So while Theo Walcott and the Three Lions humbled Croatia in Zagreb, the Sky Blues happily got on with rebuilding the squad's confidence from an inconsistent start to the season.

After a run of three defeats, the break couldn't have come at a better time.

And it's not often anyone writes this, but how about an England-esque performance at the Ricoh on Saturday, eh lads?

Go on, the timing is perfect.
