Stephen Wright signs for Coventry City
CHRIS COLEMAN completed his summer rebuilding programme on Friday when Stephen Wright signed a two-year deal.
The 28-year-old full-back, who has played a full part in the Sky Blues' pre-season programme, is Coleman's sixth summer signing - and he can't wait to start the next phase of a career that has taken in spells at Liverpool, Crewe, Sunderland and Stoke.
"It's good to get everything done and dusted," said Wright.
"It seems like it's been quite a while coming but it's great to get things sorted and I can't wait to get stuck into our first game.
"I've been with the lads for six weeks now so it was just a case of getting the deal done. The gaffer and the chairman wanted to do it and so did I.
"I've really enjoyed my time with the club so far. There's a great bunch of lads here and we've got a top manager as well. It feels right being here. Training has been really good, we're looking sharp and we can't wait to kick the season off.
Wright, who has been allocated the No.2 shirt, joins fellow Liverpool fan Scott Dann and Everton supporter Danny Fox in the City back four.
"Me and Scott will probably give Danny Fox a bit of a rib-bing," he said, "but when you've got three Scousers together you can't knock it.
"With Elliott Ward as well we've got some good young lads at the back and hopefully we can all strike up a good partnership."
Coleman, delighted to finally get his man, said:"Stephen is a quality full-back and plays in a position that we needed to fill. He has played at the highest level and has looked very good for us during pre-season.
"His experience will help some of our younger players and he is a great lad to have around the place as well."
